Good evening guys,
I figured i would kick things off in here, i've only been Airsofting for a short period of time, my first gun was a G&G gas blow back M4 raider, i bought this rifle from Teabag and i have to say i was extremely happy with a load of characteristics! The first thing that struck me was the overall weight of the gun, as standard with no attachments, this gun is extremely light! Granted the body isn't metal, but still.. Lighter than i had first imagined it would be!! The second thing that i liked is that the inners are so simple! The business end in my opinion is the magazine! The mags are filed with gas, non silicone is recommended because a white silicone residue is left behind in the rifle inners. With that said, this can be healthy for your rifle as it keeps it well lubricated. A downside to the mags is that they only hold 35-40 BB's! Meaning mag changes are often!
Because the rifle is a gas blow back, the its looks and sounds AMAZING when your firing it!! Almost like a recoil, definitely a kick if you like! It keeps the rifle realistic! Being in the military im used to recoil and a lot of noise, so i was extremely happy with the performance of the M4 GBB raider.
With all of that said, i have a few bad points relating to the Gas side of things, as we all know, gas has a better performance provided its warm! Or not necessarily warm.. But room temperature!! I had my first bad experience last weekend as the weather was a lot colder than it has been in recent weeks, the first problem that i came across was in the safe zone, just test firing, i filled the mag and loaded my rifle, how ever when i fired, the gas was bellowing out the end of my rifle!! I was advised to put the mags in my pocket to warm them up so i did this, things got better, however while i was in the main arena at CQB Tactical, things got worse!! I was loosing power, my BB's were dropping before they hit the intended target and i was getting highly frustrated!! Before long i swapped weapons and used an AEG.
So to summarize, the GBB is both brilliant and frustrating at the same time, its definitely a summer weapon and i honestly can't fault it when its performing at its best! But in cold weather it just becomes a nightmare and you end up loosing a lot of game time. For that reason im getting an AEG at the end of the month, i'll turn my GBB into a little project and have it booming for the summer!!
