IOA Game l August 10th l CQB Tactical
What's good guys, I said I'd put together a small after action review for the IOA game that was hosted at CQB Tactical this past weekend. I was invited by and asked to skirmish as the camo team commander by Lyle, who organised the event. I couldn't say no! I accepted and looked forward to seeing what the day and both teams would bring in terms of team work, shooting and a tactical presence.
The day was a huge success! There was a lack of numbers due to a few teams pulling out, how ever this didn't hinder the day, some times, fewer numbers work better than a sell out! The tempo of each skirmish changes as does the intensity! The teams were odd numbered from the start but by only a few blokes, this wasn't reflected in the skirmishing, the civilian clothed team played extremely well throughout the day and despite being handicapped, they held they're own extremely well! So hats off to the civilian team!

The games were extremely well put together by Lyle & Max! And we'll orchestrated by Ben! So top job to you guys for that! Bringing the codes and lipo bags into play for a chance to be entered into a raffle was a real nicety too! An incentive for the guys that attended, clever too! Whilst hunting for the codes you need to keep your wits about you and on your toes, incase any unwanted opposition are lurking around the corners, so a real nice touch with that!!
As for the games them self, absolutely wicked!! From a game of illuminati that lasted one hour and twenty minutes, to the captured team leader game! The captured team leader game worked really well! Through trial and error, we figured the game would be a lot slower and a little more intense by using a medi rule with just 2 life's each in game! Once you have been revived, your on your last life!! Each team leader must remain with the opposing team, his primary weapon incapacitated and his side arm holstered, at any point the team leader can draw his sidearm, pray to god and get trigger happy, immobilising the opposition, or he can wait for his team who may or may not execute a successful rescue. May not being the operative word If the team leader is able to escape, he is permitted to use his primary! Sneaky, tactical and diverse! A great laugh!! The team leader has a real situational awareness, seeing what's happening around him, listening in on the oppositions communications, sit reps and med reps. What the team leader chooses to do with said information or act on said information, is entirely down to him! I chose to draw my weapon and was able to kill 3 civilians.. To then be shot in the leg on my escape! Schweeeet!!
The search and destroy game was the winner for me! Remote detonators, 4 unrelated bomb sites. One bomber from each team and only one medi rule per player! Intense!!
It was a real pleasure to skirmish with the guys that attended and I sincerely hope to do so again in the not so distant future!! I do believe that the camo team won! For that I accept your appraisals! All jokes aside, a well organised and executed day! I look forward to the next one! Until next time! Peace!
